GOT7’s Youngjae Reveals Why It Was Difficult To Make Their Song “ENCORE”
In a recent interview with Elle Korea, GOT7‘s Youngjae spoke a bit about their song “ENCORE.”
GOT7’s Youngjae“ENCORE” is the first song GOT7 released after they all left JYP Entertainment. After it was announced that all the GOT7 members would not be renewing their contracts with JYP Entertainment, some believed that the group would disband. However, the members have stated multiple times that this is not the case.
Well, we thought that when we all leave JYP Entertainment, our fans would think that we would naturally disband. But we’re not doing that whatsoever.

Youngjae revealed that all the members wanted to quickly release something to tell their fans that they weren’t going anywhere. This, however, wasn’t easy.
And we needed to show the fans that this is how we felt because unless we tell them, they have no way of knowing. So we rushed to put that album together. We kind of gathered the songs we already had prepared, and we went over them, like, ‘Oh, this one’s lyrics aren’t going to work,’ etc. We really needed songs that would deliver what we want to say to the fans. And even after we chose the song, we had to arrange how to record it and stuff, and yeah, it was quite complicated.

The members had no agency to help them, and they ended up using their own money to make “ENCORE.”
Like, we were putting that together without the help of the agency. We were paying out of pocket, booking the recording sessions on our own, etc. And that’s how ‘ENCORE’ came to be.

Youngjae also humbly said that the song’s quality “isn’t as good” as their previous songs, but the members wanted to release the song to ease their fans’ feelings.
I think we know that the quality of that album was inevitably not as good as our previous albums. But that album was meant to show the fans that we’re not coming to an end, and we’re going to keep going. We knew that the album would be the only way to express how we really feel. So, yeah.

Youngjae concluded by saying that GOT7 will, soon enough, be doing something as a group.
We’re doing our own things at the moment, but soon enough, we’re going to come back with something done as a group!
