Only These 6 Fourth Generation K-Pop Groups Have Made Over One Million Album Sales
The fourth generation of K-Pop began around three years ago, most fans would likely agree with, though there isn’t a set date for it. In that amount of time, tons of new groups and artists have debuted, though much fewer of them became highly successful.
The following 6 K-Pop groups are the only artists from the fourth generation that have made over one million album sales. This is a huge accomplishment for any group, especially those that haven’t been around for very long!
6. TREASURE
TREASURE debuted on August 7, 2020, under YG Entertainment, and was highly anticipated even before debut. In their 6 months being active, they’ve released three single albums and one studio album, which is a lot for such a young group. Their first album, The First Step: Chapter One, started the group off with an impressive near 250k sales!
After the release of their latest album, The First Step: Treasure Effect, TREASURE has not only joined this prestigious list by reaching just over 1.00 million total sales, but they’ve become the youngest group to reach this milestone! The album was released on January 11, 2021, and has now become their best-selling album to date with about 282.8k sales so far.
5. The Boyz
The Boyz debuted on December 6, 2017 under Cre.ker Entertainment. They had a pretty decent start to their career, with their first album, The First, selling about 75k copies, but after they won first place on competition show Road to Kingdom, their popularity definitely went up.
To date, they’ve now sold about 1.06 million album units! Their best-selling album is their latest, Chase, which has sold about 307k copies since it came out on September 21, 2020.
4. ATEEZ
ATEEZ debuted on 24, 2018 under KQ Entertainment. Like most groups, especially those from smaller companies, ATEEZ didn’t immediately take off in popularity, though it didn’t take them long to develop a very loyal fanbase, especially with international fans due to their marketing and promotions overseas. Their first album, Treasure EP.1: All to Zero, sold about 85k units.
Since they debuted, they have sold 1.12 million albums! Their best-selling album is ZERO: FEVER Part.1, their most recent, released on July 29, 2020 with about 380k sales.
3. TXT
Unlike some groups on this list, TXT did have the benefit of debuting under an already highly successful company — BigHit Entertainment, home to super group BTS — but that doesn’t mean they worked any less hard to become as successful as they are. They debuted on March 4, 2019 with the album The Dream Chapter: Star, which has made an incredible 260k sales.
Now, after several other album releases, Stray Kids has sold a total of 1.37 million total units! Their best-selling album is also their latest, Minisode1: Blue Hour, which has sold about 477k copies since it came out on October 26, 2020.
2. Stray Kids
Stray Kids is another group that benefitted from debuting under a large and successful company — JYP Entertainment — though again, their hard work and talent has been the majority of what has driven them to success. They debuted on March 25, 2018 with the album I Am Not, which has sold almost 140k units to date.
They have definitely seen a huge jump in popularity since they debuted, and 2020 was easily their most successful year to date. They’ve now made a total of 1.95 million album sales, with their best-selling being their latest reissued album, In Life, which has sold over 440k total copies!
1. IZ*ONE
And finally, IZ*ONE may be the only girl group that made this list, but they managed to make it to #1, which is incredible! The group has definitely found success after being formed by Produce 48, and they’ve only continued to get more and more popular as their career has gone on. They debuted on October 29, 2018 with the album COLOR*IZ, which has sold over 260k copies.
Like with Stray Kids, 2020 was a huge year for the group, and IZ*ONE has now sold 2.05 million albums to date! Their best-selling album is Oneiric Diary, released on June 15, 2020 with over 550k sales, and one of the best-selling K-Pop girl group albums in history.
