Girls’ Generation’s Taeyeon Answered Questions About Her New Mini-Album Including Which Song Is Her Favorite
In light of her 4th mini-album, What Do I Call You?, being released, Girls’ Generation’s Taeyeon answers a few questions about the mini-album fans were dying to know.
| @Taeyeon_ss/InstagramQ: How do you feel about releasing a new album this year?
A: “I am happy to be able to play new music for my fans. This album seems to have songs that will go well with the end of 2020, so I hope people will listen.”
| @smtown/InstagramQ: What did you care about the most in this album?
A: “I tried not to overdo it. Lately, I don’t think I was in the mood for really energetic and upbeat music, so I wasn’t drawn to that direction.”
| @smtown/InstagramQ: What is the charm of your song “What Do I Call You?”
A: “It’s cool and collected, yet also has a hint of ‘hip’ mixed in.”
| @smtown/InstagramQ: What’s your favorite song on the album and why.
A: “It’s my title song, I would usually choose a b-side track rather than a title song, but I felt captivated by this song as soon as I listened to it. The lyrics, the melody, and the mood are so my style.”
| @smtown/InstagramQ: You were involved in composing and writing the lyrics for the song “To the Moon.” What was your inspiration?
A: “This song represents my daily life. I’ve always wanted to incorporate my best friend and dog Zero. You will be able to tell once you hear the lyrics.”
| @smtown/InstagramQ: Do you have any emotional aspect of the music video you’d like to point out or an episode that happened during its filming?
A: “We styled the music video through a variety of styles to express the story of reminiscing the before and after of a breakup. Mr. Panda plays the part of my boyfriend, but I never once saw his face during the filming. I want to thank the model who suffered under that mask.”
| @smtown/InstagramQ: What was the concept of all the teaser images from this album?
A: “It’s a vintage and girly concept. They are also separated into before a breakup and after a breakup.”
| @smtown/InstagramTaeyeon also answered some questions about her experience as a cast member on the show “Amazing Saturday.”
Q: Not only did you work on this album this year but you also had a variety of projects ranging from features, OST tracks, appearing on “Amazing Saturday” and more. If you had to choose one that was the most memorable, which would it be and why?
A: “I think ‘Amazing Saturday’ has to be the most surprising(?) issue for me. It had been a long time since I was a regular cast on a variety show, and it was a good opportunity for me to socialize with a lot of people, from the guests to the cast family and staff.“
Q: Lastly, what would you like to say to your fans who have been waiting for your comeback?
A: “2020 was very eventful. I hope you can feel how I expressed this year through my voice and image in the song and album details. Please always stay safe and healthy!“
