F(x)’s Amber Responds To Koreaboo Reader’s Comment About BLACKPINK Lisa’s Rapping
Shortly after a Koreaboo article on idol rappers with vocal skills was shared to Twitter, one fan of BLACKPINK’s Lisa left a negative comment towards f(x)’s Amber. To everyone’s surprise, Amber soon came across the tweet, giving her own response on her rapping versus Lisa’s.
At the top of the listicle—titled “These 14 K-Pop Rappers Can Definitely Slay The Vocal Position”—was none other than f(x)’s Amber.
| EsquireWhile many people know her as the group’s main rapper, she originally trained under SM Entertainment as a vocalist. However, when the group needed someone to head the rap line, Amber’s position was changed at the last minute.
Another idol who made the list was BLACKPINK’s Lisa. She may spit fire with her verses, but underneath her rapper exterior, she also has a beautiful vocal tone.
| @lalalalisa_m/InstagramWhile she doesn’t often sing in the group’s title tracks, she wowed fans at BLACKPINK’s Private Stage fanmeeting last year when she sang Nat King Cole’s L-O-V-E with fellow member Rosé.
While both stars definitely earned their spot on the list of rapper-vocalists, one reader wasn’t too happy about it. In a since deleted tweet, a fan of BLACKPINK quoted the shared article on Twitter with, “they put lisa on the same list as amber liu 🍅🍅🍅 disrespectful 🍅🍅🍅 [sic]”.
While the BLINK in question likely never expected Amber to see their tweet, the f(x) star managed to come across it and decided to speak out with her own thoughts.
| @ajol_llama/InstagramInstead of lashing out at the response, Amber actually agreed with the fan, sharing that she also sees Lisa as “an amazing rapper and performer”. Amber went on to explain that she never considered herself a rapper to begin with—likely because she was trained as a vocalist.
| @ajol_llama/InstagramAmber, who began a burgeoning solo career after leaving SM Entertainment last year, says she “did what [she] could” after being assigned the role by SM Entertainment. Despite not choosing the rapper path herself, she’s often been praised for her energy and flow.
| @ajol_llama/InstagramFinally, Amber ended her response with a statement even her “hater” could agree with: “In the end, stan blackpink [sic]”.
| BLACKPINK/YouTubeAmber’s tweet has since been met with praise for her mature response and disdain for those who post hateful messages towards idols.
Are y’all serious? Don’t fans say “idols have feelings too” ?? And then go and shit on anyone who made a mistake or just nothing… this is beyond disrespectful and can hurt amber or lisas feelings. Also, amber is a senior of Lisa by YEARS so stop comparing/hating them. https://t.co/VwXi0ychTK

MeUs shared their support in the comments, congratulating her on being able to pull off a range of roles in f(x) and in her solo career.

And the kindhearted words didn’t only come from Amber’s own fans. Many BLINKs called on their fellow fandom members to refrain from such comments in the future.
For everyone who love Amber I I would like to explain Lisa can't choose her own fan club. There are many fans who love and respect the seniors.
So please don't hate her. I am the one who respect Amber and I want to apologize for some bad behaviour from Blink 🙏— 👄LisaInMyArea👄𝒎𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒔𝒂 𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒅𝒂 Lisa (@LisaInMyArea20) September 15, 2020
Unfortunately, the negativity didn’t quite stopped there, as Amber later shared that people on Twitter were trying to hack her account.
Lol are people trying to hack my account? HAHAHAHA

However, she ultimately ended her day on Twitter with a message to inspire kindness on social media.
Okay no more twitter spiraling for today. Have a goodnight everyone. Be kind and love each other 💜 go get boba too. Llama out.
