Korean Students Catch Their Professor Receiving Porn… When This Chatroom Popped Up During Online Lecture
The South Korean Hankuk University of Foreign Studies — also known as HUFS — is, like all other school campuses in the country, currently closed for the prevention of the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19). Instead, HUFS has opted to offer online lectures — and these virtual internet classrooms have become helpful for professors and students to get back on track, without coming in contact.
HUFS CampusOn March 25, 2020, however, during a “Korean Political Intelligence” lecture, “Professor A” ended up traumatizing his students with a KakaoTalk message that revealed his darkest secret.
Picture UnrelatedWhen the pre-recorded lecture began playing, the students did not expect to see the professor’s personal KakaoTalk chatroom to pop up mid-class. In this chatroom, a pornographic video was shared — with the video’s thumbnail making that clear and obvious. According to the students, Professor A immediately exited the chatroom and continued with the lecture, but the damage had been done. Students uploaded screenshots from the lecture to the university’s student forum:
[The Thumbnail from Korean Political Intelligence] I keep hearing people say like this is something that can happen… but I don’t think they understand the seriousness of it. Here’s a blurred screenshot of what happened. I was baffled AF. I’m going to drop the class because of this…

Those who attended the online lecture also pointed out that the porn seemed to have been sent to the professor from his friend.
The message came from someone saved as — hyung. So it definitely wasn’t a prank. It was a part of his life caught on camera.

The students grew appalled by the fact that the professor hadn’t even tried to edit the recorded lecture before sharing it with the class to see. They accused the professor to be irresponsible and unprepared to teach the class.
HUFS CampusProfessor A’s students have been vulnerably exposed to the pornographic content during the lecture. Professor A, however, continues to pretend that this is not a serious matter. This is not a small mistake and he needs to take full responsibility. His lack of professionalism and poor ethics as a professor must be penalized. The professor and HUFS need to apologize for traumatizing the students.

As the screenshot went viral and more Korean netizens began criticizing the school…
… HUFS responded, “The university is in the process of changing the professor to teach the remainder of the class.” HUFS also claimed that a committee will look into the matter and decide on Professor A’s consequences for his actions.
