Actress Ha Yeon Soo Snaps At The Internet For Asking Her To “Dish Stories” About Red Velvet’s Yeri

On March 13, 2020 KST, actress Ha Yeon Soo made some time to communicate with her fans via Instagram Stories’ “Ask Me A Question” sticker feature.

When she came across a seemingly harmless question about her friend, Red Velvet‘s Yeri, though…

Please dish stories about Yerim unni with us!!

— Netizen

… Ha Yeon Soo became apparently irritated and responded with her usual, vocal personality.

I think this is a very dangerous question. If you really care about your friends and have any consideration for them, it is wrong to ‘dish stories’ about them — like you’ve asked me to do. You probably already know this, but Yerim is a good, thoughtful dongsaeng to me. Have a good night.

When the response began circulating online, Ha Yeon Soo’s past online “snarks” also resurfaced…

Actress Ha Yeon Soo Expresses Anger Towards Netizen Hate Comments

… and netizens reacted to the actress’ constant social media controversies with even more hatred — some of which even came off as blatant sexual harassment.

  • “It’s okay, I understand. Only because you have big boobs.”
  • “Damn, you’re a man’s man!”
  • “LMAO.”
  • “But she has small boobs…”
  • “Pretty sure they’re tiny.”

  • “She’s still on social media? I wonder why her agency doesn’t stop her.”
  • “Why does she take everything so seriously?”
  • “Why is she even on Instagram…”
  • “It’s like… she has an actual a problem.”
  • “How suffocating.”

Ha Yeon Soo then posted a warning on her Instagram feed, stating that she will proceed with taking legal action against the hate comments, most prominently shared on Korea’s “Diesel Mania” online forum.

I know Diesel Mania has been always like this. I’ll be taking legal action!

— Ha Yeon Soo

Since then, the warning has been deleted and replaced with a longer explanation of what happened and what she expects in the future:

I’ve read all the reacts, the encouragements, and the criticism to the original post I had shared stating that I will take legal action against a certain online community and its commenters. Thank you for sharing your thoughts even though it is late at night. When I shared the screenshots of the hate comments that I received, I asked the original commenters to see if they would be willing to come talk to me on my YouTube channel. I actually do want to talk things out with them before taking legal action. I also want to ask them if they would be interested in helping me prevent sexual harassment online from here on after.

I don’t hate these people. I don’t even know what they look like. But this is the first time in 7 years I received an apology for the countless sexually harassing comments I’ve gotten. It makes me wonder why I can only hear the words ‘I’m sorry’ after I threaten to sue. I would like to work on coming up with different ways, if any, to get rid of sexual harassment.

Thank you for reading my long message. And thank you for keeping by my side through it all.
