Director Bong Joon Ho Reveals “PARASITE” American TV Remake Will Feature Never Before Seen Details
Director Bong Joon Ho is currently preparing the American TV remake of his mega-hit film, “PARASITE”. The show will be produced with HBO and famous Hollywood director Adam McKay.
The 2-hour film will be spread out into a 6-hour drama series, and director Bong Joon Ho is excited that he’ll be able to play out his complete idea for the original story.
Director Bong revealed that when he was first creating the movie, he had a bunch of ideas that had to be cut for the 2-hour time frame, but the 6-hours series will allow him to play out many of the never-before-seen details!
When I first started writing the scenario for “PARASITE”, I had a lot of ideas but I couldn’t use them all because of the 2-hour running time for the film.
I have all of the ideas saved on my iPad, and I plan on telling the complete story in the 6 hours.

He gave a sneak peek into what fans can look forward to in the upcoming drama. He teased that parts of the movie that were never explained will finally find an answer, like why the house keeper appeared in the middle of the night with injuries on her face.
For example when the original housekeeper Mun Gwang comes back in the late-night, something happened to her face. Even her husband asked about it but she never answered.
I know why she had the bruises on her face. I have a story for that and aside from that why does she know the existence of this bunker?
What relationship does she have with that architect to know of this bunker? So I have all these hidden stories that I have stored.

It’s unconfirmed if the upcoming HBO series will be played out in Korean or English, but Director Bong Joon Ho vowed that the drama series will be a perfected version of the film that’s longer in story.
HBO’s “PARASITE” series will be a lengthened version of the film. My goal is to make a highly perfected lengthened version.

When asked when the 6-hour version of “PARASITE” will be released, Director Bong joked, “Maybe 2027”. Although the series has yet to confirm anything besides the possibility in the making, the world has its eyes on the show as the film made history at various film award ceremonies this past year.
