Our K-Pop Faves Get A Classical Makeover With Upcoming Orchestral Concert
K-Pop is often praised for it’s beautiful visuals, insane choreographies, and polished styles, but the musicality behind K-Pop is many times overlooked. K-Factor: An Orchestral Exploration of K-pop aims to change that with a new concert that will feature orchestral versions of K-Pop hits.
In the teaser posted by New York’s Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts – where the concert will take place – we can hear snippets of the classical arrangements of Seo Taji and Boys‘ “I Know”, Red Velvet‘s “Ice Cream Cake”, BTS‘ “IDOL,” and GAIN‘s “Tinkerbell”.
Red Velvet (left) and BTSOne of the brains behind the concert is Kim Eana, who’s written for EXO, Brown Eyed Girls, Taeyeon, and MAMAMOO just to name a few. In a statement, she expressed the goal of this concert to connect with the adventurous musical “core” of K-Pop that she’s “always felt deserves deeper consideration.”
