Victim Claims She Was Drugged At Burning Sun, Sues Police For Not Properly Handling Her Case
A victim of an incident at Club Burning Sun has sued the police at the Gangnam Police Station for dereliction of duty.
On March 28, a woman in her 20’s revealed her story to Donga Ilbo. At 1 am on December 23, 2018, the woman sat at a table with Chinese men at Club Burning Sun. She claims that the men handed her a glass of champagne.
Without much suspicion, she drank the champagne only to wake up at 10 am at the Gangnam Police Station without any memory of the previous day. The police told her that she had been arrested for assaulting a female guard at Club Burning Sun.
However, the woman became suspicious as she couldn’t believe she lost consciousness after a single glass of champagne. She began to suspect that the Chinese men may have drugged her and requested a drug test.
The woman claims that the polices’ reactions to the drug test were suspicious. Two policemen who saw the test kit results said it was “weird” or “vague” and asked the woman how many lines it looked like to her. Two lines indicated that the results were negative and one line positive.
A few moments later, another policeman took the test kit and threw it into a trash bin next to the woman as soon as he looked at it and then told her to go home as the test came out negative.
After finding out about the incident, the woman’s father reported to the police station and asked whether there is any possibility that she could have been drugged through the alcohol. In response, the police firmly stated, “Burning Sun is not a place for doing drugs.”
Moreover, the police added that the test results were not normal and it could have been date rape drugs but that they could not find the Chinese people if they went back to China.
The test results were not normal. It could have been date rape drugs, but because they’re Chinese, if they go back to China we cannot find them.
ㅡ Police
The woman was very suspicious but because they told her that her assault was filmed on CCTV footage, she assumed that she made a mistake while she was drunk and had no choice but to leave the police station.
Three months later on February 27, the woman filed a complaint against the 4 policemen with the Seoul Central District Court for dereliction of duty. She stated that her determination to file the complaint became hardened after Seungri’s Scandal broke out.
I was suspicious that the police didn’t properly investigate the drugs because of collusion with Burning Sun, so I filed the complaint.

In response, the police have stated that they completed all the tests and all came out negative, which is why the test results were not recorded in the records.
At the time, we conducted 6 drug tests and all came out negative. We told her to get a complete medical exam at the hospital if she thought the results were suspicious. Because the test came out negative, we didn’t record it.
